\"Luxemburg<\/a>Veterans Day Thank You<\/h1>\n

This story is in honor of Veterans Day.\u00a0 As a Colorado Springs Mobile Notary<\/strong>, I encounter a lot of interesting notary situations.\u00a0 I recently notarized some French language<\/strong> documents from a signer from Luxembourg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Her father was from France and she needed some power of attorney documents notarized.\u00a0 She was born in Luxembourg and spoke English and French.\u00a0 We completed signing the documents and then we had a conversation.<\/p>\n

<\/span>World War II, General Patton<\/span><\/h2>\n

I mentioned that my father served in the US Army in 1944-45, in Europe, during World War II<\/strong>. He was an assistant gunner in a Sherman tank crew in the 15th Tank Battalion<\/strong>, in the Sixth Armored Division<\/strong>, under General George S. Patton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Battle of the Bulge<\/span><\/h2>\n

He fought in the Battle of the Bulge<\/strong> and survived combat, but was later critically wounded in action in 1945, when shot by an enemy sniper.\u00a0 He lost a kidney and nearly died.\u00a0 After many months, he recuperated, came home from war, built his own home, raised a family and lived a long life.\u00a0 During his retirement years, he wrote short stories about his life, including the war, and I compiled the stories into a book that our family members now keep as a treasured remembrance.<\/p>\n

My customer said that she was just a baby in 1944, at the time of the Battle of the Bulge, but her parents told her the story as she was growing up.\u00a0 She showed me a history book from her home library with photos of the cemetery and grave of General Patton<\/strong> at the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial<\/strong><\/a>. She expressed how thankful they were of the Americans that fought for their freedom.<\/p>\n

So, on Veterans Day<\/strong>, and always, thank you to my Dad and to my uncles for your service, and thank you to all the veterans who have served our country, at any time.\u00a0 And, on Veterans Day<\/strong>, and always, thank you from the liberated European citizens to the Americans who served during World War II.<\/p>\n
