<strong>hospitals<\/strong> and <strong>nursing homes<\/strong> to notarize documents for patients and residents.\u00a0 This week, I went on my first call to a <strong>construction site<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A contractor was installing the fire sprinkler system for the new <strong>Bonaventure<\/strong> <strong>assisted living center<\/strong>.\u00a0 The signing location was inside the contractor&#8217;s <strong>modular office<\/strong> at the construction site.\u00a0 There were lots of plans and blueprints on the tables.\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Contractor_Documents\"><\/span>Contractor Documents<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The contractor needed a document notarized to submit to the Colorado Department of Public Safety,\u00a0 <strong>Division of Fire Prevention and Control<\/strong>, which regulates <strong>fire suppression systems<\/strong> and does fire safety inspections for this type of facility.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Affidavit\"><\/span>Affidavit<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I had never seen this government form before.\u00a0 I looked it over and determined that it was a <strong>sworn statement (affidavit)<\/strong>, and had the usual <strong>jurat notarial certificate<\/strong> attached.\u00a0 I verified photo ID, had a brief conversation with the contractor and then\u00a0administered the required <strong>oath<\/strong> for the sworn statement.\u00a0 The process took a few minutes at the construction site.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While driving away, I realized that this beautiful new facility will have a grand opening soon, and the <strong>senior citizen residents<\/strong> will be calling me to help them notarize their documents such as <strong>wills<\/strong>, <strong>trusts<\/strong>, and <strong>powers of attorney<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And, I will have a story to tell them about how I helped the contractor who installed the fire sprinkler system at the construction site.\u00a0 I hope they never need to use it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Visit our website for
