There is an online notary resignation form on the SOS website.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Destruction_or_Disabling_of_Notary_Stamp\"><\/span>Destruction or Disabling of Notary Stamp<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>On the resignation, revocation, mental incompetence, or death of a notary, or the <strong>expiration<\/strong> of the notary commission, the notary stamp should be destroyed or disabled to prevent further use by an unauthorized person.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Storage_or_Delivery_of_Notary_Journal\"><\/span>Storage or Delivery of Notary Journal<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>On the resignation, revocation or expiration of a notary commission, completed notary journals should be securely stored by the notary for <strong>ten years<\/strong> after the last transaction, or sent to the state archives.<\/p>\n<p>On the adjudication of mental incompetence, or death of a notary, the <strong>personal representative<\/strong> of the notary shall submit the notary journals to the state archives and notify the secretary of state in writing of the delivery.
