justify;\">The bill of sale should include a <strong>certified<\/strong> or <strong>sworn statement<\/strong> from the <strong>seller<\/strong> that the <strong>odometer mileage<\/strong> number recorded on the form is <strong>true and correct<\/strong>.\u00a0 This protects the buyer from purchasing a vehicle with <strong>excessive mileage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"36_Hour_Rule\"><\/span>36 Hour Rule<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Colorado, the bill of sale should include the <strong>date<\/strong> and <strong>time<\/strong> of sale.\u00a0 When a sale occurs outside of normal business hours, such as a private sale, the buyer has <strong>36 hours<\/strong> to proceed with registering the vehicle.\u00a0 The <strong>36-hour rule<\/strong> is the reason that the <strong>time<\/strong> of sale is required, in addition to the <strong>date<\/strong> of sale.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A <strong>jurat<\/strong> <strong>notarial certificate<\/strong> may be included to take a <strong>sworn oath<\/strong> or <strong>affirmation<\/strong> from the <strong>seller<\/strong> that the <strong>odometer mileage<\/strong> number is <strong>true and correct<\/strong>, and that<strong> clear title<\/strong> is being delivered to the buyer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An <strong>acknowledgment<\/strong> notarial certificate may be included for the <strong>buyer<\/strong>\u00a0to <strong>acknowledge<\/strong> that he\/she is agreeing to buy the motor vehicle described in the document, under the <strong>disclosures<\/strong>, <strong>price<\/strong>, and <strong>terms<\/strong> stated.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Form_DR_2173\"><\/span>Form DR 2173<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is no sample motor vehicle bill of sale form on the Colorado <strong>Department of Motor Vehicles<\/strong> (<strong>DMV<\/strong>) website.\u00a0 They used to have a <strong>Form DR
