Notary Exam<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The student then must pass the Colorado Notary Exam, which is an open book <strong>online exam<\/strong>, with no time limit.\u00a0 The minimum passing score is 80%.\u00a0 On successful completion of the notary exam, the student receives and <strong>exam completion certificate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Then the student must submit an online <strong>notary application<\/strong> form, a notarized <strong>affirmation<\/strong> to obey the Colorado notary laws, and attach the course completion certificate, the exam completion certificate, <strong>driver&#8217;s license<\/strong> or other acceptable ID, and an <strong>application fee<\/strong> of $10.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The SOS office normally will process the notary application within <strong>5 business days<\/strong>, and then the notary will receive <strong>email notification<\/strong> of his\/her <strong>notary commission<\/strong>, which is valid for <strong>4 years<\/strong>.\u00a0 Under current law, the notary must <strong>renew<\/strong> the commission every 4 years, but no additional training, continuing education or exam is required.\u00a0 The notary is required to be aware of and comply with any changes in the Colorado notary laws.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Once the notary commission is approved, the notary can purchase a <strong>notary journal<\/strong> and a notary <strong>rubber stamp<\/strong>.\u00a0 We style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Colorado notary training and exam requirements started on <strong>May 1, 2010<\/strong>.\u00a0 Colorado notaries who were commissioned before that date are not required to complete the class and exam, but it is highly recommended so that the notary is knowledgeable in notary law to better serve the public and to reduce the <strong>risk<\/strong> of notary Connecticut<\/strong>&#8211; exam on application form<br \/>\n<strong>4.\u00a0 DC<\/strong>&#8211; exam and orientation<br \/>\n<strong>5.\u00a0 Florida<\/strong>&#8211; initial 3-hour course<br \/>\n<strong>6.\u00a0 Hawaii<\/strong>&#8211; exam<br \/>\n<strong>7.\u00a0 Louisiana<\/strong>&#8211; exam<br \/>\n<strong>8.\u00a0 Maine<\/strong>&#8211; exam on application form<br \/>\n<strong>9.\u00a0 Missouri<\/strong>&#8211; initial course, <strong>renewal<\/strong> course<br \/>\n<strong>10.\u00a0 Montana<\/strong>&#8211; initial course<br \/>\n<strong>11.\u00a0 Nebraska<\/strong>&#8211; exam<br \/>\n<strong>12.\u00a0 Nevada<\/strong>&#8211; initial 4-hour course<br \/>\n<strong>13.\u00a0 New <\/strong><strong>York<\/strong>&#8211; exam<br \/>\n<strong>14.\u00a0 North <\/strong><strong>Carolina<\/strong>&#8211; exam (initial and <strong>renewal<\/strong>), initial 6-hour course<br \/>\n<strong>15.\u00a0 Oregon<\/strong>&#8211; exam on application form, initial 3-hour course<br \/>\n<strong>16.\u00a0 Pennsylvania<\/strong>&#8211; initial 3-hour course, <strong>renewal<\/strong> 3-hour course<br \/>\n<strong>17.\u00a0
