{"id":130,"date":"2013-11-22T10:39:52","date_gmt":"2013-11-22T17:39:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/abclegaldocs.com\/blog-Colorado-Notary\/?p=130"},"modified":"2019-07-27T09:58:47","modified_gmt":"2019-07-27T15:58:47","slug":"notary-application-colorado","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abclegaldocs.com\/blog-Colorado-Notary\/notary-application-colorado\/","title":{"rendered":"Notary Application, Colorado"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Notary Application, Colorado<\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To become a <strong>Colorado Notary Public<\/strong>, you must follow the notary <strong>application requirements<\/strong> of <a href=\"https:\/\/abclegaldocs.com\/blog-Colorado-Notary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Colorado_Notary_Law_120x80.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\"  class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-204\" src=\"data:image\/gif,GIF89a%01%00%01%00%80%00%00%00%00%00%FF%FF%FF%21%F9%04%01%00%00%00%00%2C%00%00%00%00%01%00%01%00%00%02%01D%00%3B\" data-layzr=\"https:\/\/abclegaldocs.com\/blog-Colorado-Notary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Colorado_Notary_Law_120x80.jpg\" alt=\"Colorado Notary Law\" width=\"120\" height=\"80\" \/><\/a>Colorado law, CRS 12-55-104.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\">Notary Application Requirements<\/h2>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\">1.\u00a0 Be a <strong>Colorado resident<\/strong>, with a\u00a0residence and business address in Colorado.<br \/>\n2.\u00a0 Be at least <strong>18 years old<\/strong>.<br \/>\n3.\u00a0 Be able to read and write the <strong>English language<\/strong>.<br \/>\n4.\u00a0 Agree to comply with <strong>Colorado notary laws<\/strong>.<br \/>\n5.\u00a0 Not have a <strong>felony<\/strong> conviction in your lifetime.<br \/>\n6.\u00a0 Not have a <strong>misdemeanor<\/strong> conviction involving <strong>dishonesty<\/strong> during the last five years.<br \/>\n7.\u00a0 Never had a notary commission <strong>revoked<\/strong>.<br \/>\n8.\u00a0 Before becoming a notary or renewing your commission, you must carefully read the Colorado <strong>Notaries Public Act<\/strong>.<br \/>\n9.\u00a0 Since May 1, 2010, all new and expired notaries must complete a state-approved <strong>Colorado Notary Training<\/strong> class and pass the open book <strong>Colorado Notary Exam<\/strong>.<br \/>\n10.\u00a0 Be a <strong>US citizen<\/strong>, or a Permanent Resident, or otherwise lawfully present under federal law.<br \/>\n11.\u00a0 Pay an <strong>application fee<\/strong> of $10 to the <strong>Colorado Secretary of State<\/strong> (<strong>SOS<\/strong>).<br \/>\n12.\u00a0 Have the affirmation of office form <strong>notarized<\/strong>.<br \/>\n13.\u00a0 Submit the <strong>application form<\/strong> and supporting documents online to the SOS.<br \/>\n14.\u00a0 Submit an application every <strong>four years<\/strong> to renew the notary commission.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The SOS will process the notary application and send an email when the application is approved.\u00a0 The notary may then retrieve his\/her notary <strong>commission certificate<\/strong> online, from a password protected account.\u00a0 The certificate will contain the <strong>notary ID number<\/strong> and <strong>expiration date<\/strong>.\u00a0 Then the notary can order a <strong>notary stamp<\/strong> and <strong>journal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Colorado is similar to most other states that appoint notaries to a commission of four years.\u00a0 A few states have notary commissions that are shorter or longer than four years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: Effective December 16, 2013, the notary application process changed from a <strong>paper\u00a0process<\/strong> to an\u00a0<strong>electronic process<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Visit our website for <a href=\"https:\/\/abclegaldocs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Colorado Springs Mobile Notary<\/strong><\/a> services or <a href=\"https:\/\/abclegaldocs.com\/Colorado_Notary_Training.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Colorado Notary Training<\/strong><\/a> classes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a9 Copyright 2013 ABC Legal Docs, LLC All rights reserved.
