However, the notary must also notarize that same document in English.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Note:\u00a0Under federal law, if you are seeking services from a government agency or an organization funded by the U.S. Government, you must be provided with assistance in your language.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For example, the Colorado court system provides some bilingual court forms with both English and Spanish wording, including bilingual English and Spanish notarial certificates. See an example court form <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.courts.state.co.us\/Forms\/renderForm1.cfm?Form=534&amp;Type=s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JDF 751, Spanish, Delegation of Power by Parent or Guardian<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. These translations are provided by the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.courts.state.co.us\/Administration\/Unit.cfm?Unit=interp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colorado Courts Office of Language Access<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 Colorado court forms and written proceedings must be completed in English per court procedure CRS 13-1-120.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Jurat\"><\/span>Jurat<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A <strong>jurat<\/strong> certificate is attached to a <strong>sworn<\/strong> document.\u00a0 The signer must <strong>swear<\/strong> or <strong>affirm<\/strong> to the notary that the statements and information in the document are<strong> true and correct<\/strong>, and that he\/she is signing <strong>knowingly<\/strong> and <strong>willingly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The notary verifies the <strong>identification<\/strong> of the signer, administers an <strong>oath<\/strong> or <strong>affirmation<\/strong> to the signer, and should not notarize the document if the signer does not appear to be signing knowingly and willingly.\u00a0 The signer <strong>must sign<\/strong> the document in front of the notary.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A commonly notarized document that uses a jurat is an <strong>Affidavit<\/strong>, or <strong>declaraci\u00f3n jurada<\/strong> or <strong>jurada<\/strong> in Spanish.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Below is the Colorado notary certificate form for a <strong>jurat<\/strong>, in English and in Spanish.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Notario\"><\/span>Notario<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: a Colorado notary public must not use the words <strong>notario<\/strong> or <strong>notario publico<\/strong> unless the notary is also an attorney in Colorado.\u00a0 So, in the Spanish document, the English words <strong>notary
